The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league during the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, has officially confirmed this decision to Cricbuzz. However, details such as the specific dates and the number of participating teams are still under consideration, as they are yet to identify an appropriate window in the cricketing calendar.
These domestic T20 leagues have risen in prominence across India, serving as crucial platforms for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to scout emerging talent. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra provide invaluable opportunities for local cricketers to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Most of these leagues typically occur in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in late May.
